Parque Chimiyá at San Juan Comalapa
The Playground
One of the best parts about being a kid is ... well, just being a kid,
without all the worries of the adult world. Unfortunately, not
all children in Comalpa have had the opportunity to enjoy this, until now.
When Long Way Home arrived in Guatemala to join the Parque Chimiyá project, the playground equipment had already been donated by Chuwi Tinamit. Children occasionally visited the park to use the swings, slide and monkey bars, but the playground was largely unused. Once the soccer field was opened and more visitors began frequenting the park, the playground came into regular use. Young children and families now come to Parque Chimiyá just to enjoy this shady recreational area within the park. Each year, Long Way Home and Chuwi Tinamit join together to paint and refurbish the playground equipment.
