Adam says about Long Way Home's work in Comalapa:
"We are trying to show one example of how to provide an educational center in a different way, by being transparent with all our financial records as well as using green materials. I think LWH leads by example."

Adam loves to collect new information and his research provided the inspiration to begin building with reused materials. Much of his knowledge comes from architect and builder Michael Reynolds, located in Taos, NM. Reynolds has been building houses with what he terms "indigenous" or "harvested" materials since the 1960's. Reynolds has released seven books on the subject, many of which have provided direction for the LWH crew.

Adam has seen positive change in Comalapa since arriving in 2007, including the stuffing of trash in plastic bottles. He says he can see a reduction in the quantity of trash in the streets.
